Reporting directly to the VP of Revenue North America, the Business Development Manager (BDM) represents a key role for the business, at an important time in its development. The appointee can expect direct interaction with the senior leadership team and will assume responsibility for:

  • Leading the development of a robust sales pipeline and business propositions in order to sell
  • Demand Response programs and flexibility services to large energy consumers in the ERCOT Market
  • Seeking and exploiting new business opportunities to achieve sales targets
  • Develop and grow indirect sales channels with the recruitment of partners that can help us meet our growth and expansion goals.
  • Networking with clients, attending industry events and building strategic relationships to enhance brand capital and opportunities for new business
  • Progressing the development of solutions in collaboration with the key internal stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities to create additional cross-offerings and synergies based on client/industry demand
  • Providing market forecasting to support the company’s growth strategy in the region
  • Promoting the company’s brand in the US energy markets, in particular ERCOT, to drive customer awareness and grow market share relative to US competitors.

The appointee will establish, develop and maintain excellent customer relationships with all clients.

What are we looking for:

  • A strong sales and business development leader with an ability to apply business development techniques to develop and shape long-term opportunities to sale
  • Confidence to take the lead in positioning the necessary people and resources in the organization for competitive advantage
  • Ability to accurately forecast sales cycles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to confidently present sophisticated technical concepts to a wide variety of stakeholders including operations managers, engineers, facility managers and C-suite
  • Ability to influence and negotiate throughout complex, technical sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders
  • Objective focus
  • First-rate customer management skills, coupled with strong listening and communications skills
  • Experienced sales territory manager, able to develop and execute regional growth plans
  • Team player, able to work both individually and on team projects
  • Commercially aware and contextual in translating market and industry subject matter to customer challenges and energy strategy
  • Well-honed interpersonal skills
  • Existing relationships/contacts with US-based industrial and commercial consumers is desirable, but not essential
  • Trained at least one sales methodology (i.e. SPIN, TAS, Miller – Heiman)
  • Experience in working in Salesforce CRM and MS Office (particularly MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related business, management, commercial, engineering field, or relevant equivalent experience
  • Current, valid driver’s license
  • Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background screen
