The Role: Regulatory and Market Analyst/Manager -PJM

This is an exciting opportunity that will fit a Market Analyst/Manager within the electric utility space. Currently employed, the candidate pool will be populated by those seeking an opportunity to play a key role in contributing to an exciting growth story. The opportunity will offer significant scope for growth. The role will primarily cover the PJM market but may require facilitating an understanding of other emerging smart grid markets in North America.
The successful candidate for this role will help to expand the company’s foothold in the American Power Markets and to replicate its status in the UK and Ireland as a market-leading service provider. They will achieve this by identifying opportunities for flexible and distributed assets, developing a complete understanding of the requirements and inherent risks and conducting a thorough analysis of potential revenue streams. The primary objective is to optimize commercial opportunities for the business in the PJM market. This role will also support entry into other relevant North American markets.
Responsibilities will include:
- The candidate will be the point of contact and establish relationships with Key PJM market participants and attend meetings with PJM and other market participants to identify and influence regulatory concerns and future market developments.
- Providing insight on the PJM market and industry advancements to the senior leadership team and analysing the needs of the Grid/PJM to identify actionable business strategies
- Identifying and documenting registration requirements and submitting various market applications to access relevant revenue streams
- Identifying commercial opportunities and developing a deep understanding of market rules that govern these opportunities, available revenue streams, the path to market access, risk and penalties around performance
- The candidate will work closely with the sales, marketing and customer solution departments in ensuring effective organisational prioritization to achieve revenue and client engagement targets in the near and long terms.
- Ability to track key deadlines imposed by market operator/ Regulator/ System Operator
- Strong relationship management skills with an ability to seek out key market contacts
- Ability to distil large documents, publications, and training material into key strategic and commercial takeaways for management
- Commercial understanding to assess the impact of changes in the market
As Analyst :
- An understanding of the PJM power market and demand response services business model.
- Experience working in both research and a commercial capacity, evaluating and producing commercial and/or technical reports and analyses
- Commercial aptitude, with experience contributing to business strategy by identifying and pursuing market opportunities
- The ability to effectively communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders including those in sales and operational functions.
As Manager :
- Experience in the PJM power market and with demand response services
- Significant experience working in both research and a commercial capacity, evaluating and producing commercial and/or technical reports and analyses
- Commercial aptitude, with experience contributing to business strategy by identifying and pursuing market opportunities
- The ability to effectively communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders including those in sales and operational functions and most importantly to the senior leadership team with actionable summary reporting
What you will have
- Bachelor’s degree in related business, management, commercial, engineering field, or relevant equivalent experience
- Current, valid driver’s license
- Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background screen
