Our client has a long history of providing end-to-end electric Solutions for network metering. They provide specialist and proven design capability, manufacturing, testing and commissioning in dedicated facilities. At our UKAS-accredited laboratory, they build high-quality metering solutions for the precision measurement of energy in large-capacity circuits. National Grid, major UK power stations, ABB, Alstom, Mitsubishi and others use our solutions. In addition to their onshore credentials they also meter the energy generated by offshore wind turbines and naturally all of our work is independently verified.

We are recruiting for a manager to look after our client’s Workshop & Field team at our site in Rochester, Kent.

This is your role. What part will you play?

Leadership, motivation and direction of the Workshop & Field team to support the implementation of the Project Services customer projects portfolio.

Provision of specialist Workshop & Field Support functions including:

  • Line management of a human resource pool including specialist field engineers, workshop technicians
  • Management, coordination and control of human resource requests and subsequent work assignments to deliver planned project tasks, activities and specified deliverables
  • Management, and coordination of site readiness requirements. Site visits as required to inspect & further improve site working conditions & methods.
  • Management of an in-house workshop environment with all the associated equipment, tools, asset stocks, inventories and consumables to enable the build & test of electrical metering cabinets
  • Capacity planning & management to ensure the ongoing availability and optimised utilisation of both the field resource pool and physical workshop resources
  • Effective Logistics planning, control & co-ordination to facilitate delivery of planned projects
  • Close collaboration with PS Project Delivery Manager & Electric Project Managers to ensure the workshop/field team always has the necessary resources & capacities available to deliver the expected take-on of customer projects
  • A positive promotion of the company’s “Zero Harm” culture and compliance with all related Health & Safety laws, policies and standards
  • Adherence to all other company’s compliance standards, e.g. business conduct, environment and security
  • Effective cost control and achievement of delegated budget targets
  • Continuous improvement of project support methods, processes, facilities, tools and associated skills to enhance operational performance, reduce cost and/or increase productivity & efficiency
  • What does it take to be successful in this role?
  • HNC / Degree qualification in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Excellent understanding of the operational challenges, issues and risks associated with delivering High
  • Accuracy electric metering solutions
  • Good technical understanding and appreciation of electrical measurements & electrical installations
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety best practices and associated working requirements
  • Demonstrable success in effectively leading, organising, managing and developing a similar delivery unit
  • Proven ability to maximise both the availability and associated utilisation of shared resources to deliver expected project outcomes within defined budget constraints
  • Track record of success in developing a collaborative working culture and delivering continuous improvement with measurable/positive results.
  • Good awareness and appreciation of best practice project management methods and ability to interact effectively with Project Manager stakeholders
