The Role: TV reporter
Contract: 12-month contract
Salary: 170 per day
Location: Remote
Start date: ASAP
We are looking for a passionate, first-class journalist, obsessed with all forms of television; from daytime talk shows, reality TV and soaps to primetime and premium streaming shows.
The primary focus of the role is to create memorable and unique stories driven by a strong understanding of search and social trends that help build a loyal audience and position the company as a place to go for the TV conversation.
You will be able to demonstrate a talent for planning ahead to ensure our client is best placed to cover the big moments of the TV schedule, as well as identify key moments and talking points from live television.
Our client is both a content creator and curator, and journalists who join the team are challenged to think creatively to discover new ways of producing original content that delights our users and complements the content already on our site from a wide range of partners.
Excellent communication skills are essential and the successful candidate will be at ease working in a cross-functional manner.
Main Responsibilities
- Use audience tools to find, write, plan and develop TV stories with unique angles
- Work closely with social and SEO teams to ensure we are maximising the reach of our content
- Build contacts to break exclusives that increase the reach of the company brand
- Manage a detailed TV calendar and content schedule with a view to writing/commissioning features
- Cover a variety of priority TV shows live
Ideal Candidate
- First-rate communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proven love of TV – with genuine enthusiasm for the next big show, and an awareness of the UK TV landscape.
- Experience with CMS and social media platforms.
- NCTJ training or equivalent
- Competent Photoshop skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working across multiple stories.
- A flexible approach to shift work – this role will involve nights and weekends, with time back in lieu.
