Title: Design & Product Support Manager

Salary: Up to £73,000 + Bonus

Location: Hybrid | Rochester (1-2 days per week)

We are recruiting a Design & Product Support Manager for our client’s Grid Software business in Rochester. This role will see you lead and manage the staff and resources within the Design & Product Support unit to ensure our customers receive a professional service with optimum product performance!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and product support unit; including training and mentoring staff to deliver required objectives.
  • Act as the principal design authority for all solutions provided by Project Services; including developing and implementing guidelines, policies and processes to deliver the superior engineering strategy.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies e.g., IEC 61850 and embed into our products and service offering.
  • Oversee the evaluation of potential new products to ensure that all functional and safety requirements are met.
  • Act as the head of the laboratory and ensure compliance with industry regulations; including UKAS and ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Act as the secondary management system signatory for the UKAS laboratory.
  • Work closely with the Project Service Support Manager/PMO to plan and allocate resources to projects and other business unit activities, as required.
  • Put appropriate succession plan in place for key roles e.g., Product Manager.
  • Support the Head of Project Services in the delivery of the Project Services strategic plan.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience in electronics and product development environment.
  • Good understanding of the electricity supply industry and how the transmission systems work.
  • Solid understanding of projects including network communications, 4G solutions, LTE, Dynamic system monitoring, Power quality, G99, etc.
  • Solid understanding of safety standards e.g., UKCA compliance.
  • Working knowledge of Cybersecurity/products and solutions security (PSS).
  • Strong commercial acumen, with good customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to coach, lead and motivate others.
  • IT literate, with good knowledge of IT systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Good knowledge of Quality Assurance systems.
