Senior Technical Controller

The Role: Senior Technical Controller

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £70-80K + Bonus + benefits

Location: Holborn, London (Hybrid)

Start date: ASAP

The Senior Technical Controller will help embed a Technology General Controls capability across a complex technology landscape, spanning our client’s business.

As a new capability for the company, the Technology Controls team will need to introduce this skillset into our organisation. This team will ultimately be accountable for measuring, evidencing, and reporting on control compliance across critical technology products and applications across our business.

This new capability/skillset is required in anticipation of new and complex legislative changes planned to be introduced by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in FY23/24 that the company will be required to comply with. This will mean establishing the company’s right processes, tools and teams.

What you need to do

  • Work alongside the Head of Technical Controls Management and Head of Technical Controls to deliver additional legislative change into our business on an ongoing basis, ensuring it is robust, comprehensive and repeatable.
  • Build relationships with business stakeholders and teams within the company’s Tech to help drive forward the adoption of new controls
  • Support in defining and managing the documentation of the IT General Controls Matrix
  • You will be comfortable facilitating workshops to analyse, define and prioritise gaps in our current controls and our required position
  • Work with the broader engineering, product and architecture communities to promote the importance of Technology General Controls to ensure that all new products are built with these controls in mind and upskill the wider technology and business colleague population on effective controls.
  • Work with engineering teams and other stakeholders to deliver and maintain a new Technology General Controls framework and processes to ensure legislative compliance by the start of the FY23/24 financial year.
  • Plan for and engage the expertise of subject matter experts from across the technology division as required to provide support in the delivery of new components that enable us to meet the BEIS requirements.

What you need to know and show

  • Ideally know about compliance and regulatory controls and implementing a technology control framework across a large and complex business via relevant experience
  • This is an emerging area where legislation is still being determined, therefore it is necessary to be able to anticipate potential problems, how these can be resolved and be adaptive to change without compromising legislative changes that are required
  • Experience working in a complex, large-scale technology organisation using a mix of on-premise, SaaS and cloud-based technology solutions, able to apply this experience to the context of our business
  • Knowledge of modern engineering practices and the application of technical assurance and standards in agile methodologies
