About the role: Senior Planning Officer
Duration: 6 months+
Daily rate: Up to £45 per hour

Location: Remote/ Cheshire
CPL UK is currently seeking two experienced planning officers who will be focused on determining planning applications for a local Council. The successful candidates will carry a caseload of applications including small-scale housing developments (circa 1 to 20 units), commercial developments, rural/agricultural developments as well as helping the team with a backlog of householders and other applications.
Our client offers a hybrid model, 1 day a week in the office. Travel to sites across Cheshire will be required.
Basic requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in Development Management determining planning applications
- Experience in assessing a wide range of planning applications, certificates of lawfulness, listed building consents etc.
- Excellent working knowledge of planning policy and legislation with the ability to work independently
- Very good ICT and report writing skills – including experience writing committee reports.
- Ability to manage and communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the planning application process (agents, applicants, elected members, statutory and non-statutory consultees, and members of the public).
- Ability to resolve and negotiate solutions with clear decision making to ensure a good output and turnover of planning application decisions.
